 STAHLKOFFER TO LAUNCH NEW LAPTOP-BOX AT BMF

In line with our policy of expanding the product range, Stahlkoffer will be launching their latest LAP-TOP-BOX at the forthcoming BMF Rally in Peterborough. It has been designed mainly for the commuter traveller who wants to travel to work and take their laptop with them. The lap-top-box is made of 2mm aluminium and comes in a variety of colours and is priced around £200.00 (to include all fixtures and fittings).

First of all a big thank you to all our customers new and old who visited us, despite attrocious weather conditions last weekend at the Classic Bike Show in Stafford. For those of you who were unable to make it Stahlkoffer will be exhibiting at the BMF over the weekend of May 19th - 20th in Peterborough.

This is billed as the worlds largest outdoor motorcycle exhibition and the organisers are predicting a bumper crowd of over 40,000 during that weekend. They are also hosting the only round of the BMW Trophy (the three eventual winners will go on to represent GB later this year in South America) so we fully expect a large contingent of GS riders to be there too.

Stahlkoffer has booked a substantial exhibition stand (72 square meters) in the MANUFACTURERS VILLAGE and all our products will be on display. Naturally there will be discounts on certain of our products and Stahlkoffer will pay the freighting costs on any products ordered during the weekend.

We are also holding a raffle for a free topbox (further details nearer the time) and we can be found on Stand Y3-8.

STAHLKOFFER AT CLASSIC BIKE SHOW, STAFFORD THIS WEEKEND   

STAHLKOFFER will be exhibiting this weekend at the Classic Bike Show, Stafford. On display will be some new products we have been developing over the winter. So if you have no other plans why not come along? You will find us on Stand M48 in the Main Hall.

Opening times are Saturday: 9:00am - 6:00pm and Sunday: 9:00am - 5:00pm.

We will have our usual display of panniers, inner-bags, top-boxes, roll-bags, rear racks, tail-bags, crash bars, back rests and other products too numerous to mention.

STAHLKOFFER will also pay the postage on any products purchased during the show.

Due to customer demand STAHLKOFFER is now offering a BRAKE RESERVOIR PROTECTOR for the BMW R1200 & BMW F650/800 GS range. These have been expressly designed such that it makes unwanted removal of the reservoir lid much more difficult AND reduces significantly damaging the reservoir whenever the bike is dropped. Both come in hard-wearing mild steel, powder-coated silver & are available with fitting kit for £17.99 (including VAT) plus postage. Pictures of these items will be available on our website shortly. Well there are just five weeks left before the annual PRESCOTT BIKE FESTIVAL. As their flier says it is a fantastic day out for all the family! There will be lots going on including The Speed Hill Climb, Dealer Stands and Fun Fair. Prices are substantailly reduced if purchased in advance & ticket sales are well up on last year. Organisers are expecting in excess of 8000 peopple so if you are at a loose end why not come along? Stahlkoffer will be exhibiting their range of luggage & accessories including their new Citykoffer & Stahlkoffer Sport Pannier Systems.

Just a quick note to say STAHLKOFFER now produce eight (yes eight) different size of aluminium panniers & they all come powder-coated  in a variety of colours (gun metal grey, silver, black). If customers want their panniers anodised then the colour choice is endless. The latest STAHLKOFFER Luggage Systems fit the Triumph 800 & the Yamaha Super Tenere 1200. Well almost the end of yet another hectic month & just got back from the Dutch Bike Show in Utrecht! As usual it was very well attended & we were surprised by the number of British Bikers who had made the trip over to Holland. Stahlkoffer had their biggest exhibition stand ever (35 square meters) and I must say it looked very impressive! Sales of the whole range of Stahlkoffer Panniers, Roll-bags, Top-boxes, Inner-bags & Rear-Racks far exceeded our expectations. Thanks again to all who came to see us on our stand.

First of all a big thank you to all our customers new & old who braved the awful weather conditions last weekend to visit the Stahlkoffer stand at the London Bike Show at Excel, London. Attendance was down on last year but this was mainly down to the weather although a hefty £25:00 for an entry ticket did not help. Customers seemed pleased with the varied Stahlkoffer product range but more importantly a lot of interest was shown in the new Citykoffer Sport & Stahlkoffer Sport Panniers which were on display on a new Super Tenere we had been kindly lent by Steve from Kidderminster Motorcycle Mart. We picked up three firm orders for the Stahlkoffer Sport Panniers at the show so we are hopeful this is the start of Stahlkoffer Panniers appearing on yet another model in our ever increasing range.

On the first day of the show James Dwelly, a photographer from Bike Magazine called in & took a few photos of our Stand. Unfortunately his editor decided not to print the photos but we did get a mention in the Editorial feature which is due to appear shortly. He commented:

"After a bit of a sit on the R1 on the Yamaha stand we wandered to the Classic Bike Stand, pausing en route for a chat with Stahlkoffer, a British firm that makes rugged metal panniers for the more serious minded traveler. It's something I've always fancied doing, taking a bike over Europe, riding for miles over empty roads, pitching camp when one feels like it, eating soup over a gas stove...staying in a hotel".

Next Sunday 19th February we will be at the Adventure Day at the Ace Cafe so if you are in the vicinity do "pop in". We were there last year for the first time & it was surprising how many people turned up for this now very popular annual event. There are always bargains to be had & as usual any orders placed with Stahlkoffer on the day will result in free shipping (thereby making a worthwhile saving of up to £25:00). We will also have on display our brand new 2012 City-koffer and Stahlkoffer Sport Panniers.

We now make it even easier for customers to pay for goods as we accept credit & debit cards.

The following week Stahlkoffer will be exhibiting at the Dutch Bike Show in Utrecht (23rd - 26th February). In the unlikely event of anyone making the trip do come & see us on Stand 11.B080. We have exhibited there  for a number of years & as it is their National Bike Show it is much much bigger than the London Bike Show & well worth a visit! The first three days the opening hours are 10:00 - 22:00! Yes a full twelve hours.

For the past week or so we have been busy making frames & panniers for the SUPER TENERE. If everything goes to plan we will have that bike & our new luggage system on display at the forthcoming London Bike Show at Excel 2nd - 5th February.

The frame design means that we will be offering a "balanced luggage system" & customers will have a massive choice of EIGHT different pannier sizes! The Citykoffer & Citykoffer Sport Panniers will fit within the overall width of the handlebars (making for easier filtering) & the Stahlkoffer & Stahlkoffer Sport Panniers will be ideal for the serious tourer & also have the advantage of taking a full-face helmet.

As soon as everything is complete we will be posting photos on the GALLERIES Section of our website. Please feel free to browse & mail us with your comments.

Well already we are two weeks into a new year & so far 2012 has been a busy time for us. Bernie and Philippa would like to thank all our customers old and new for their patronage and we are looking forward to building on and increasing our already extensive customer base by continuing to offer quality products at sensible prices.

I suppose there is nothing quite like a difficult economic situation to focus the mind and our experience over the last nine months has taught us that customers are becoming very discerning when it comes to parting with their hard-earned cash. They are certainly looking for products that represent excellent value for money and in this respect we seem to have scored. Our success has been built on good customer service and the fact that we believe we offer products (ALL MADE IN THE UK) at a reasonable price. These factors have reflected in a massive increase in sales over the last half a year and prompting us to move into much more spacious premises in Gibbs Road, Lye, West Midlands.

We have already taken the decision (that baring a catastrophe) all our prices will remain fixed for the 2012 season, which is obviously good news for all our customers. Also our new  product range of Citykoffer Sport and Stahlkoffer Sport Panniers will be on display at the forthcoming London Bike Show at Excel (2nd - 5th February) as well as the Overland & Adventure Day at the Ace Cafe, London on Sunday 19th December. So once again thanks to all and hopefully we will meet up at one of the two exhibitions next month.

We have already signed up for several other shows (Classic Bike, Stafford, BMF, Horizons, etc) so if you can't make one of  the two shows in London next month we are sure there will be plenty of opportunity to visit us later in the year. Naturally we will keep you all posted as to dates and venues nearer the time.

POST REPORT NEC BIKE SHOW, BIRMINGHAM, NOVEMBER 2011

So the Birmingham Bike Show is over for another year and we must admit it has been a great success. Attendances were up on previous years and people seemed a lot more upbeat about everything to do with biking be it our accessories, new bikes or even our overseas tours!

Philippa and I would like to thank all our customers new and old for coming to see us in the Adventure Zone and proof of an upturn in the motor cycle market was confirmed by the number of orders we took for our panniers and accessories. Interest in our latest models of Citykoffer Sport & Stahlkoffer Sport Pannier systems exceeded expectations so we are already in full production in an effort to deliver confirmed orders before Christmas and early in the New Year. Our new backrests have also proved extremely popular (particularly amongst the pillion riding fraternity)!

The next exhibition is beginning of February at Excel in London. So if you did not make the NEC maybe we might meet up at Excel?

Firstly thanks to all who turned up to the Horizons weekend & visited our stand. Lots of interest was shown in our new roll-bags & in particular the new crash bars for the R1200GS.

We now also make top-boxes in various sizes & colours. Our latest creation now holds a full-face helmet.

As part of our Continual Improvement Process Stahlkoffer is now replacing all their plated fasteners, nuts, bolts etc with stainless steel ones. The advantages are obvious - non-rusting & good-looking. ALSO we are not increasing our prices as a result. Again good news for all our customers.

WATERPROOF ROLL-BAGS ANYONE?

The company is now producing waterproof  90 litre & 60 LITRE ROLL-BAGS.

Fitting is SIMPLE  either on the passenger seat or onto the rear rack.

As of next week they will be available in black/red/orange/grey& blue. They all have two fluorescent strips sewn on either end as an additional safety feature & costs are £49.99 for the 90 litre bag & £44.99 for the 60 litre bag.

I was not happy with the design of BMW panniers (particularly the massive storage space loss with the near-side pannier having to accommodate the exhaust pipe).

So I designed aluminium panniers and frames for the R1200GS/R1150GS/R1100GS & R850. By increasing the width of the near-side pannier frame the pannier now hangs on to the frame and sits "proud" of the exhaust pipe, thus giving the owner a "full pannier".

The off-side pannier is designed slightly bigger so that it can store a full-face helmet. As a result you end up with just over 100 litres of luggage space (more than adequate to store two people’s luggage on a three-week camping trip).
